GST Council to Hold 56th Meeting on September 3-4, 2025 in New Delhi

The Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council will hold its 56th meeting on September 3 and 4, 2025, in New Delhi. The meeting will begin at 11 am on both days, as per a communication sent to members.

Ahead of this, an officers’ meeting will take place on September 2 in New Delhi. Details of the agenda and venue will be shared later.

All members of the GST Council, which includes the Finance Ministers of all States, Union Territories and the Centre, have been invited to participate.

The Council will discuss the recommendations of three Groups of Ministers (GoMs) on rate rationalisation, compensation cess, and health and life insurance.

Recently, the GoM of state ministers met and, in principle, agreed to the Centre’s proposal for a two-slab GST structure, according to PTI reports.
